Ariana Williams' Museum Schedule

Hi Everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather so far. Very briefly about me, my name is Ariana and I'm a stay at home mom of two "toddlersaur" boys. I'm actually interning at a museum in Bridgeport right now, and I'm very much interested in getting out and exploring other sites in the area. I'm currently pursuing my undergraduate in Humanities, with hopes of obtaining my Master's in Museum Studies and/or Master in Library Information Science. In the future I hope to become involved in the museum world as I very much love history, but want to explore art and learn more about that as well.

My schedule for Mod 5 2022 is as follows:

Week 1: Bruce Museum, Yale Gallery of Art, Yale British Art Museum

Week 3: Wadsworth Atheneum

Week 4: Metropolitan Museum of Art

I tried to be strategic with my planning between balancing my husband's schedule, kids, and my internship I have to go to 3 museums my first week to make sure I have all the requirements in for the rest of the Mod. I might try to go to the Museum of Modern Art while in NYC week 4, but we will see what time allows. Side note, for the Bruce Museum I believe they are closing for construction between June 4th-July 9th.

Looking forward to this course!

Welcome to Class!

 Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the blog for the Museum Experience class.  This class was conceived to be a travel class where you actually visit museums and engage with artwork in person, rather than mediated by print or digital representation.  The difference is huge.

The idea is that you will plan  a trip to 5 museums and write 4 papers and create 1 photo essay with captions.  Details about how to go about this is detailed in the syllabus linked from the list in the upper right side.

Blogging is easy. If you have ever made a post to Facebook, you already know how to blog.  Take a look at the short video I made, also in the link list.  While there, check out the time line/due dates link.

The syllabus has many links to help you in place of a textbook.  Take a look at some of the past blogs and see what others have done in the past.

Here I am teaching Ceramics at Albertus

I will review the work every Monday morning and leave comments here.  The first week is about getting up and running.  Post a short Bio to the blog.. a photo is nice too... Plan you trips and post where they will be.  Read the syllabus to see the Museums that are possible.  Begin your visits... Join the blog.

Email me with any questions!  jnevins@albertus.edu.  Above all, I want you to have fun with this.  Treat it like a summer vacation... engage with the work (one piece, really).
