Ariana's Wadsworth Atheneum Trip

Hi everyone! Yesterday I had a great day at the Wadsworth in Hartford with my husband. The gallery attendants were helpful and eager to share their knowledge of the collections. I learned some interesting information about Daniel Wadsworth and John Trumbull (founder of Yale Art Gallery). Apparently, Daniel was married to John’s niece and they were both artists and collectors. John introduced Daniel to other artists in the area as well. I thought it was neat to see the connection between the two museums! Being a native of Hartford, I especially appreciated seeing some of the work representing my hometown and from local artists. Below is just a snapshot of our day! If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend stopping for lunch inside the museum's cafe! The people were friendly and the food was great! They currently have an exhibit featuring and highlighting the career of Connecticut native Anika Noni Rose inside the Amistad Center for Art and Culture which was interesting to see as well.

Rose was given the key to her hometown of Bloomfield.
